Empty states

Language refers to state, not action

  • For empty states, language will be referring to the state, not the call to action. This approach will allow us to have consistent naming for both users with edit and view rights. Users with view rights will see inputs and selects in read-only state.
  • Example: Not assigned instead of Assign


Empty state types based on attribute type

  • We differentiate between 3 types of attributes:
    Selects, Inputs and Timeframes. Each type which will share consistent naming across components: 


Use of visual representation in column cells and roadmap cards

  • Visual representation of empty column cells (grid) and roadmap cards can be used in order to optimize for visual feel and little space available.

Use complete sentences in the present tense to guide and describe. Make sure the customer knows where an action should take place before you describe the action. If there is no specific order of operations, use a bulleted list. If steps must be completed in a certain order, use a numbered list.
